I had been taking notes for Katelyn and Steve’s cemetery wedding for weeks prior to their event. West Laurel Hill Cemetery was such a unique location I was already inspired for some bold and dramatic portraits, but as soon as I found out Katelyn would be wearing a pink dress with cathedral veil my mind went absolutely crazy. So when I first saw Katelyn and said I wanted her to channel “Vintage Vogue cover models” I was expecting maybe a little Blue Steel but not much more; Katelyn is as gorgeous as a model though not necessarily a trained professional which is why I was completely blown away by how fierce she was. She played to the camera, worked the veil and strutted her stuff in her custom dress by Janice Martin Couture – I could have photographed her ALL.DAY.LONG. I even tried some on-set experimentation with some of these which, as we can see, were wildly successful and I cannot wait to experiment some more! I also had such a hard time choosing photos to share because I am in love with every single image from that day. However, I’ve decided to break it up into two posts, there were just too many gorgeous ones of Katelyn that I couldn’t ignore so I’m choosing to begin with her. A special shout out to my second shooter, Lori, for kicking ass and shooting on a broken ankle for eight hours – you are my hero!
You won’t want to miss Katelyn and Steve’s full wedding post where we showcase their Dr. Seuss themed cemetery wedding!
