Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters: NYC Engagement Photography :: NYC wedding photographer :: LGBT Weddings

For New Yorkers Nicholas and Daniel, the “typical” engagement session location just wasn’t going to fit their lifestyle. No Central Park, no Brooklyn Bridge – they wanted something a little different, a little off center so I went out on the hunt for just such a location. After much research and googling I finally sought wisdom from a veteran NYC shooter who shared some fresh ideas. I then narrowed it down and after some back and forth with Nick and Daniel plus a bit of a permit scare, we decided on Fort Tryon Park – home of the Cloisters – for their springtime session.

Nestled uptown we took in sweeping river views, strolled quaint paths and meandered through timeless stone architecture. What with perfect light and these two crazy handsome and oh-so-in-love gents this is one of my favorite sessions yet. I cannot wait to celebrate their legal union at BOBO NYC in just a few short weeks!

Alex, Just had to take a moment to gush over your photos. This series is gorgeous, but the shot of them face to face (kissing?) in the shadows is so lovely and intimate, yet symbolic. Your work is stunning as always.

Awesome! I love the kiss in the shadows shot as well.

Wonderful photos! Did you need a permit to take photos at the cloisters?

Thanks, Manoj! Since it was after hours we *technically* didn’t need a permit at the Cloisters 😉

[…] HIGHLY inspired by a wonderful photographer I found while searching for photos of the Cloisters, Alix Passage. I knew I’d probably not be back here in a while so I wanted to try it out for my own […]

[…] I first met them for their engagement session this past March. In case you missed it, check out the fun we had at NYC’s fort Tryon […]
