I try to work and live under the mantra that “less is more”, but today more is definitely more so I’m giving you an extra little treat.
When editing a wedding to post on the blog, I usually get it down to maybe the best 60 images to go online – this means that things might be cut out to make room for bridal portraits, details and other traditional moments that makes a wedding beautiful. With Thayne and Alex’s wedding, however, cutting it down to 60 images was just not going to happen. Not when there were two custom made dresses, hence two first looks and two portrait sessions! Thayne was a vision of grace and elegance, Alex dashing in his custom tailored garb. As I was editing their images I had to keep reminding myself that they are – in fact – real people, their beauty is just so striking. Though they may look like movie stars their love is as genuine and real as anything – and they aren’t afraid to freely express it.
So on a warm July afternoon in beautiful courtroom #243 in Philadelphia’s City Hall, we all cried our way through their short and sweet ceremony. After a wardrobe change (and a second first look!) it was on to their Old Hollywood Glamour inspired reception at the Kimmel Center -even the guests changed their clothes! The Kimmel Center is an incredible venue for anyone, but the fact that Thayne and Alex have both performed there made it that much more special. Thayne is a dancer – if you couldn’t tell from the photos – and Alex has done musical performances. We were, of course, enamored by the architecture but also by the professional grade decorating grown, built and assembled lovingly by family members. Guests enjoyed cocktails overlooking Broad Street then danced to the sounds of The Bachelor Boy’s Band under the glass ceiling of the Hamilton Garden.
This wedding is an honest testament to my style, my vision and how I see a wedding day unfold. I thank Thayne and Alex for putting their trust in me and allowing me to see my vision to the end – and for being so candid in from of my camera!
I’d also like to give a huge shout out to Heidi Roland for killing it as my second shooter. I couldn’t have done it without you, girl!!
