How would you describe your style and approach to wedding and portrait photography?
My Style – Classic Nostalgia. My classic training of film photography, darkroom printing, drawing and painting plus my affinity for art history heavily influence my creative eye and style. Though modern in vision my imagery is old world at heart. My unique eye appeals to many musicians, graphic designers, painters and other fine artists.
My Approach – Genuine Modern Romance. By far the most important thing to me is creating and maintaining a personal connection with you. On your special day I want to create a safe and stress-free space where you to feel comfortable with to express yourself genuinely on every level. I am a watcher, a thinker and a keenly sensitive observer which I bring wholeheartedly into my work. With a combination of classic romance and modern photojournalism I thrive on the emotions that carry your unique love story. Combining elements of traditional posing, captured moments and creative storytelling I strive to create timeless memories for you and your families.
People always look so at ease and natural in front of your camera, what if I’m not that comfortable having my picture taken?
In a low-key and easy going manner my goal is to take your focus off of having your picture taken and instead focus on the moment. Through my unobtrusive, documentary style the result is natural, candid and timelessly beautiful photographs capturing the love you feel today for generations to come. We will set aside specific time on your wedding day for you as a couple to relax, take a breath and truly focus on each other. Through a series of questions, simple exercises and light, guided posing it will give you both a chance to be in the moment, remember why you are saying the vows you are today and to genuinely and deeply connect. Similar techniques are used for engagements and families, for the full effect learn more about my Love Story experiences.
Do you also photograph smaller, more intimate weddings?
I absolutely adore intimate weddings. Having had less than 80 people at my own wedding I understand the mindset of wanting that wedding celebration while still keeping it small and simple. Please contact me to learn more about my Intimate Wedding Collection.
Where are you located?
I am based in Philadelphia, PA and regularly serve many states along the eastern seaboard including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, and all of New England. I am also available for travel and destination weddings.
Do you travel? Is there a travel fee?
I absolutely love to travel! I feel so fortunate that my work has given me the opportunity to see more of our beautiful country. My husband, Mike, and I are world travelers both together and separately and continue to quench our thirst for adventures near and far. I would revel in the opportunity to document your destination wedding journey.
Travel to and from events within 90 miles of Philadelphia is included. Events requiring travel outside of 90 miles are subject to slight fees for gas, tolls, mileage, parking etc. Events requiring overnight and/or flight accommodations will be quoted on an individual basis.
What should I wear to my engagement/portrait session?
I encourage you to wear clothes in which you feel comfortable, confident, beautiful and most like yourself in; I want you to be you. You might be jeans and flats with an amazing piece of jewelry, you might be a cute dress, heels in full hair and makeup or you might be barefoot in the sand. You decide
We would love some shots with our beloved dog, can we do that?
Definitely! I understand that our pets are members of our family and I encourage you to take the opportunity to have a few shots taken together as a whole. However, I would suggest bringing someone along with you that the dog is comfortable with who can keep your pup busy while we have our full session.
What is the difference between digital styling and light retouching?
Digital styling is the process that all of my images go through to achieve their distinct look. Based on my film and darkroom training, I’m naturally drawn to the style and artistry of photography’s original medium. Using carefully crafted post-processing techniques, my goal is to maintain the aesthetic integrity of film in the modern digital age. You can expect that all of your final images will be digitally stylized. Retouching is when, at your request, more specific alterations are done to an image that might qualify as more than simple enhancements to contrast, tone and color. None of your final images will be retouched, this is an additional service that comes at an additional charge.
What is an AP Signature piece?
Using the image of your choice, I will use it to create a one of a kind piece of art just for you. Using alternative printing surfaces like metal and canvas I will combine vintage objects, and suspension like chain, metal and wood for creative presentation. I like to use objects and materials that compliment the look, style and feel of the image to keep the look elegant and cohesive. Each piece is priced accordingly based on the size of the image itself, materials used and the size you are looking for the final piece to be. For example: you might say you want an 11×14 metal print, using only metal materials with the entire piece being not bigger than 20×20. A creative idea for anniversary gifts, Valentine’s Day, vow renewal or wedding gift. I also offer gift certificates toward a future AP Signature piece, terrific for a wedding or shower gift! What is the difference between a high resolution and a low resolution digital image?
All of my packages include high resolution images sized for printing up to 8×10 at the lab of your choice. Low resolution images come watermarked and are sized perfectly as small .jpg files for facebook, twitter, instagram and other social media platforms.
